U.S. 301 approved by Fed. Highway Administration – The Federal Highway Administration reached its record of decision for the U.S. 301 Green Route plus Spur project on April 30, allowing the Delaware Department of Transportation to move forward with its plans and clearing the way for several Middletown residents to move forward with their lives. Incumbents win in Townsend council election – Townsend councilmembers Dave Raughley and Sandra Wyatt will take their places at the front of the Townsend Mayor and Council meetings for another two years. Westown Concept Plan presented to Middletown Council – At Monday’s Town of Middletown Mayor and Council meeting, developer Rick Woodin, acting on behalf of Westown Ventures, LLC, presented the concept plan for Westown Phase I. Odessa council members begin new term, discuss budget, recycling – Odessa residents who wish to continue curbside recycling will see a $3 increase in their monthly bill due to a change in the town’s contract with Independent Disposal Services. Local foundation holds concert to benefit children’s oncology camp – It’s been two years since Kaylyn Elaine Warren of Middletown lost her battle to leukemia, but her family and friends plan to celebrate what would have been her 20th birthday the way she would have wanted – with music. Author to visit Appoquinimink School District next week – Fourth- through ninth-grade students in the Appoquinimink School District are anxious for next week, as are the library media specialists at the elementary and middle schools. Smyrna resident keeps M.O.T. Line Dancers on their feet – They’re a fixture at the M.O.T. Jean Birch Senior Center and have won numerous awards. However, Lee Candy, the 67-year-old leader of the M.O.T. Line Dancers, won’t let the group rest on their laurels. She is always looking for something new for the group. Townsend area resident publishes book on God and Christian life – The story of Ray Sikes is a common one. After a period of drugs, alcohol and sex, Sikes eventually rediscovered his Christian faith, became born-again and now lives a less-sinful life in Meadow Vista with his wife and three kids. Towle Institute performs 'Murder Takes the Veil' in Delaware City – The latest offering from the Towle Institute’s drama program will be a bit different. First, because of the March ceiling collapse at the Everett Theatre, the Towle Institute will be performing at the Delaware City Community Library Theatre instead of its traditional venue.
